Description
In this class, taught by Alexandra Hart, students will learn how to fold creases in copper sheet creating endless 3-D design possibilities for jewelry and sculpture. In this one day workshop we will cover 4 basic techniques starting with single folds, multiple folds including intersecting, and stretched folds and how they affect the final shapes. Students will have opportunity to experiment and expand on what’s learned in class with the option to complete finished pieces.
The contemporary technique of foldforming was originated and developed in the late 1980s by Charles Lewton-Brain, an English-born goldsmith who lived and studied in Tanzania, the United States, and Germany before moving to Canada. His book Foldforming is the comprehensive compilation of his technique developments.
